Why the Ketogenic Diet?

I am fundamentally against “dieting” and the “dieting industry” and ALL the things that make women (and men) feel like they are inadequate unless they are slim.

I am currently, still an overweight woman, I have been since the day puberty kicked in and a combination of genes and a high carbohydrate diet kindly gifted me with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and all the horrible weight gain and other symptoms that came with it.

I have spent my life feeling inadequate, and a failure. I have tried every diet under the sun and just ended up fatter and sadder.

My basal metabolism slowed right down, and all the starvation diets and over exercising that I have done over the years has left me bigger than ever, and with a carb loving, fat holding body that just won’t let go.

I have a family history of diabetes in both sides of the family, my cousin died in her forties of a heart attack, and my Grandad didn’t make 60,. Safe to say, the genes are stacked against me.

I am a nurse by trade, and the only thing that really terrifies me is cancer. There is nothing you can do to prevent it, and everything seems to cause it.

Then I Found Keto

The ketogenic diet is an absolute GAME CHANGER. For me, it is not about the weight loss, I know my body is struggling to let go of all the weight it holds, but I have found that keto, even without the hours and hours of exercise I used to have to do to lose even half a pound, I am still losing weight…

I know that I have plenty more to weight lose, but more importantly-

I feel amazing, my insulin resistance is healing and my symptoms are disappearing.

I have lost 20kg (44lb) in the five months between these two photos.

My weight loss has stopped for now, as I have managed to get pregnant!

I will continue to live the keto lifestyle this pregnancy, and the weight loss will continue in the middle of 2019 when this little one arrives.

Keto has cured my hormone imbalance, and pulled my back from the brink of diabetes.

I now have energy and the love for life that I was missing!

I embraced the Keto way of life in April of 2018, and have finally found a lifestyle that works for me, and I believe it will work for you too.

I lost 10 kg (22 lb) in 12 weeks, without any exercise.

I am passionate about helping women who’ve tried everything finally become the happiest, healthiest versions of themselves. I myself am a wife, mother of three, and business owner; I know the struggle to stay healthy when you are trying to do it all..

I have a special interest in natural health, natural fertility and PCOS. I am a Certified Ketogenic Living Coach, and natural wellness and fertility expert, as well as a Registered Nurse, with post grad training in mothers and babies.

I am a homesteading, homeschooling mama of 3. We live in the south of New Zealand, and try to grow a lot of our own food. I run several websites, one has just grown to two, and that led on to all others!

Piwakawaka Valley Homestead, Natural Earthy Mama and Earth Larder are my main babies that keep me very busy!
